( http://users.telenet.be/ideefiks)    Jan received a 2 year basic education in decorative painting in Antwerp at Ideefiks vzw and continues until today with an in-depth self-education of decorative painting including all aspects of paint. For many years Jan has been a student of Gert Jan Nijsse ( Goes / The Netherlands ) who is - himself - a student of the Belgian painter, Paul Pauwels.     This knowledge combined with his degree in chemical engineering is very helpful in understanding the mechanisms that are in play 'while painting'. Besides practical tips and tricks on decorative painting his instruction covers a lot of technical information on the do's and don'ts of decorative painting.    Together with his wife Chantal Siebens (who founded the Antwerp based Art school Ideefiks vzw in 1991), Jan is a member of the International Salon for Decorative Painters.  In 2000 they both started Obeeliks , an on-line shop for art materials. In 2008 they started Doublefaux for the realisation of decorative painting and trompe l'oeil jobs on site.
